Yesaya 5:5

5:5 Now I will inform you

what I am about to do to my vineyard:

I will remove its hedge and turn it into pasture, ¹ 

I will break its wall and allow animals to graze there. ² 

Yesaya 43:12

43:12 I decreed and delivered and proclaimed,

and there was no other god among you.

You are my witnesses,” says the Lord, “that I am God.

Yesaya 48:14

48:14 All of you, gather together and listen!

Who among them ³  announced these things?

The Lord’s ally ⁴  will carry out his desire against Babylon;

he will exert his power against the Babylonians. ⁵ 

[5:5]  ¹ tn Heb “and it will become [a place for] grazing.” בָּעַר (ba’ar, “grazing”) is a homonym of the more often used verb “to burn.”

[5:5]  ² tn Heb “and it will become a trampled place” (NASB “trampled ground”).

[48:14]  ³ sn This probably refers to the idol gods (see v. 5).

[48:14]  ⁴ tn Or “friend,” or “covenant partner.”

[48:14]  sn The Lord’s ally is a reference to Cyrus.

[48:14]  ⁵ tn Heb “and his arm [against] the Babylonians.”
